Trump Again.
Just when you think he has hit rock bottom, Donald Trump never ceases to amaze. There he was sitting in the Oval Office, with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Just when you think he has hit rock bottom, Donald Trump never ceases to amaze. There he was sitting in the Oval Office with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. They were in the room that’s been transformed into a garish gold monument to bad taste and IMO, detracts from the White House, which might not resemble the White House after the President is through wielding his wrecking ball.
Yes, there he was sucking up to the man who engineered the killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Wasn't that the man who was labeled a terrorist just a few years ago? I thought so.
Trump omitted saying that Khashoggi’s murder inside a Saudi diplomatic facility in Istanbul was a grave violation of human rights not to mention a direct attack on freedom of the press. What he did say was that a lot of people didn’t like Khashoggi and “things happen.” Right.
While I was watching the men’s exchanges, I couldn’t help but think that they were like two frat boys who were clearly pleased they were in the same fraternity and could profit from one another. It’s all about business and getting rich-er. And by the way, Trump proudly announced that the U.S. is going to welcome Saudi workers who can train Americans to work in high tech factories claiming that it’s MAGA. Trump added that these workers would of course want to go home afterwards. Why do I suspect not.
If Trump is nothing else, he is the master of grifting, and the talent clearly runs in his family. His sons are making millions on Crypto currency and his son-in-law has become a leading business man in the Kingdom. Trump and MBS make money while they let so many millions starve.
The abolishment of the government agency USAID may not be illegal but it certainly is immoral. Plus it injures the global U.S.’s reputation and that will have ramifications for years to come. I used to say I was proud to be an American and now, there are some days when I doubt it.
It’s beyond me why people don’t cry when they hear Trump speak in superlatives spewing lies about everything from numbers, his (sic) victories and the economy. Are his followers devoid of moral compasses? Do they think it’s okay for Trump to call a journalist Piggy?
Even Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a disciple of Trump and the MAGA movement has come to her senses and disagreed with Trump’s stance on the Epstein files. She’s come out against his rhetoric, stating it’s dangerous.
It makes me remember the adage, “sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Is that true? Trump’s response was to call Greene a traitor, rhetoric which Greene states is dangerous especially after her son was targeted with a pipe bomb.
What is it with Trump’s pathological need to demean everyone by labeling them with despicable and dangerous names? Wasn’t that what bullies did in high school and hopefully got over it?
NYC Mayor-elect Mamdani is a Communist but one which Trump is going to be forced to recon with because of his extensive real estate holdings in Manhattan. It’s all about money.
How could anyone with a modicum of self-respect approve of the President’s morals? How could decent people attend a decadent Great Gatsby ball when millions of people weren’t being paid because of the government shut down; 42 million people were going to be deprived of SNAP benefits, and many were forced to stand in food lines because they were going hungry.
While I am on my rant, when I see photos of what look like masked gestapo going into cities and rounding up immigrants, I think about German history and the Holocaust. The fact that ICE is violently rounding up people and throwing them in holding camps without due process is tragic. Didn’t the U.S. learn something from its despicable treatment of the Japanese in WWII?
Trump and his government are systematically smashing the U.S’s democracy. What has this world come to?
I keep promising myself I won’t watch as much TV news but where can you find better action shows? Just today, the CDC is linking vaccines to autism. And the uptick in measles outbreaks could end the U.S’s measles elimination status which it has had since 2000.
And the list goes on. I keep promising myself that I won’t allow this administration to cause me to eat my heart out but perhaps my outrage is a form of my protesting. And hoping that the U.S.’s Democracy won’t be obliterated much less people feeling entitled not to be civil to one another. We’ll see.
In the meantime, I’ve ordered bottles, rather cases, of Tums.

You’ve covered it well. What he’s doing to our country is disgusting.
I’ve been watching Ken Burns, The American Revolution all week. It’s excellent and reminds me that freedom is not free. It makes me proud of all those who fought so hard for our democracy and it makes me realize that during our dark times that there is always hope.
May we achieve it sooner rather than later.
See very well reading - preaching to the choir but noting I am not alone with my outrage ! May thanks Karen🤗
